Q1: SAM, WHAT IS "SAM"?
"SAM" is a one-person stage show that will combine theatre kid parody, comedic storytelling, and original music stylings, taking audiences on a self-discovery journey through my pre-successful career in Hollywood and life growing up in Los Angeles. The show will be written and performed (and sung) by yours truly, Sam Labrecque, at the Hollywood Fringe Festival in June 2024.
Q2: SAM, WHAT IS "HOLLYWOOD FRINGE"?
One of hundreds of Fringe Festivals around the world, the Hollywood Fringe Festival is an annual, open-access, community-derived event celebrating freedom of expression and collaboration in the performing arts community.
By opening the gates to anyone with a vision, the festival is able to exhibit the most diverse and cutting-edge points-of-view the world has to offer. Additionally, by creating an environment where artists must self-produce their work, the Fringe motivates its participants to cultivate a spirit of entrepreneurialism in the arts.
Q3: SAM, WHY "SAM" NOW?
Being able to create this show is the result of chiseling away at years of perpetual self-doubt and low self-worth, both as a performer and as a person. Through “SAM” I'll be able to examine my identity and express myself to my community in my own way, while doing all of the things that I love.
This week, publication Canvas Rebel released an interview with me about my personal and professional journey, including the history of what led to the decision of making "SAM".
Q4: SAM, HOW TO GET INVOLVED WITH "SAM"?
June performance dates will be announced soon, and tickets for "SAM" will go on sale May 1st on the show's Fringe page.
Sam is currently looking for members to join the "SAM" team. If you are interested in working on the production in a paid creative or administrative position, would like to volunteer your skills in exchange for show tickets and perks, or are interested in helping bring "SAM" to life by supporting the production financially, please fill out the form below or email Sam at firstname.lastname@example.org.
